Courtside Videocast

In this weeks episode of Courtside, our own Courtney Massey aka The Traveling Fangirl  steps into the hosting chair and is joined by fellow Tennis Atlantic journalists, Niall Clarke and Joe Craven.  The main focus is aimed at the men’s and women’s action in Miami, Florida. The trio break down the ATP and WTA draws with their surprises and predictions, followed by a discussion about the players and what they prefer watching as a fan, and later on Courtney gives you some “In Case You Missed It” moments that happened on social media. This episode takes a lot of unique and comedic turns that included professional wrestling references, bird lingo, and playful digs at one another. You don’t want to miss this one!

On episode 6 of the Courtside Videocast, Steen Kirby, Courtney Massey, Joe Craven and Niall Clarke of Tennis Atlantic got together to talk about the midway point of the 2015 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. Both the ATP and WTA results thus far were discussed, and major topics included revisions to the hawkeye challenger system, Ernests Gulbis recent struggles, American men’s players strong showings (Steve Johnson, Jack Sock, Donald Young), and the results of the Aussie contingent as well (Thanasi Kokkinakis, Bernard Tomic and Nick Kyrgios). On the WTA side Flavia Pennetta, and the upsets in the draw by the likes of Timea Bacsinzsky and Caroline Garcia were reviewed.

Steen Kirby, Courtney Massey, Niall Clarke and Joe Craven, all of Tennis Atlantic, got together on Google Hangouts to discuss the 2015 ATP and WTA Indian Wells BNP Paribas Open Draws, making their predictions and previewing all of the action from March 12-March 22. In addition, Joe, who was a credentialed journalist at the GB vs. USA Davis Cup tie in Glasgow, gave some insights on that experience, and a discussion of the 2015 World Group round was held. Last, and certainly not least, Steen and Courtney debated on whether the Indian Wells tournament should be moved or demoted, with Steen saying yes, and Courtney saying no, while Joe also gave his 2 cents. Tennis Atlantic is proud to partner with Ricky Dimon’s The Grandstand to bring you a brand new ATP/WTA discussion show, the Courtside videocast. Episodes will be centered around the biggest events on the yearly tennis calendar, including the slams, and are set to feature as hosts Tennis Atlantic’s Steen Kirby and Courtney Massey, along with Ricky Dimon of The Grandstand.

In addition to the expertise and talent of our hosts, a rotating panel of tennis analysts will be joining the videocast to discuss interesting and popular topics around the tennis world, including on and off court news, results and headlines from the ATP and WTA tour and more.

In our inaugural Google Hangout episode, held yesterday afternoon, Steen, Courtney and Ricky were joined by journalists Niall Clarke and Jeff McMillan, both from Tennis Atlantic, and Jared Pine of Second Serb. They discussed some pre-draw Australian Open predictions, talked about some of the action on and off the court from the first week of the 2015 pro tennis season, broke down the ATP Sydney and Auckland draws, and discussed some solutions to the issue of star players pulling out of smaller ATP and WTA tournaments, in order to prioritize the Grand Slams and other big events, made notable by the situations of Eugenie Bouchard and Hong Kong last year, and David Ferrer and John Isner with the ATP Auckland tournament this week.There was also some discussion of injured players like Juan Martin Del Potro returning to the ATP tour and thoughts about what the future holds for them.
