Jack Sock Wins Winnetka Challenger, Enters Top 100

Jack Sock, who I predicted to win the tournament at the start of the week, wrapped up a rather routine 6-4, 6-2 win over fellow American Bradley Klahn in Winnetka. With the win, he revs into the top 100 for the first time.

Sock was dominant throughout the week, and didn’t drop a set against Fritz Wolmarans, Austin Krajicek and Donald Young, before winning in 3 sets over his doubles partner Somdev Devvarman in the semis.

Klahn beat Farrukh Dustov in 3 sets, Jeff Dadamo in straights and Tim Smyczek in straights, before splitting sets and getting a unique retirement against Alex Bogomolov in the semifinals. After a questionable line call, Bogomolov promptly shook the chair umpires hand, announced he was retiring, gathered his equipment, dropped an F-bomb and walked off the court, putting a bewildered Klahn into the final.
