Well, here we are. It’s 90 degrees on a Thursday night. Thank God tomorrow is Friday. And a what a Friday it will be!
The WTA’s Citi Open will announce the singles, doubles and qualifying draws tomorrow from Citibank’s flagship branch in Northwest Washington in just about 13 hours. The event begins at noon and TennisMaryland.com will be there. Expect dozens of live updates throughout the draw ceremony on our Twitter account, @TennisMaryland (Check it out over to the right) and and we’ll wrap things up on TM tomorrow night. Sania Mirza and Shahar Peer are announced as among those in attendance. No word yet on who will draw the player chips out of the bowl, but expect a big election night style screen showing the road to the Championship for all. We’ll let you know if other players or celebrities drop by, as they invariably do.
Let us know which players you’d like us to feature and interview throughout the tournament, and don’t forget to come out for Saturday’s FREE Family Day. With an expected high of 103, you might want to make an early day of it. Gates open at 8, and matches start at 9 am.
