Melanie Oudin’s Monday practice was cut short by an extended downpour, which caused a delay of Sessions 3 and 4.  Here are some last hits before the storm.

That’s the last time a cloud was even seen near College Park.

In another near-perfect day, the sun shined on Virginie Razzano, Nadia Petrova, Bojana Jovanovski and Atlanta’s Irina Falconi, as each reached the Quarterfinals of the Inaugural CitiOpen in College Park.

The two Americans on the card for Thursday include Allentown PA’s Vavs Lepchenko (vs. Alberta Brianti)  and Delaware native Madison Brengle (vs. top Austrian Tamira Paszek). At #222, Brengle is the biggest underdog remaining in the tournament. She will crack the top 200 on Monday win or lose, and may go higher than that. Shahar Peer, with the highest world ranking in the tourney (#24), could be challenged tomorrow by Ally Kudryavtseva.  And Great Brit Heather Watson faces off against top Quebecoise Stephanie Dubois, who was the subject of our interview yesterday.
