Esteemed Maryland statesman William Donald Schaefer’s campaign slogan was “Do it Now!’.  He wasn’t talking about tennis, but we are. Registration for the Baltimore Tennis Patrons Fall Lessons and Leagues is underway and closes on August 29th.

Tennis lessons are hard. They’re not so difficult once you get on the court. They’re hard because there are a lot of people who want instruction, but don’t know where to go, don’t think they can afford it, and most importantly, they’re afraid to get in a class in which they are terrifyingly under-qualified or time-wastingly over-qualified.

Baltimore Tennis Patrons takes away the difficulties mentioned above. For about fifty bucks, you get four ninety minute lessons this fall. That breaks down to about nine bucks an hour.  You can choose from 13 locations in Greater Baltimore, and one in Carroll County. 

The lessons are for all ages and abilities, and loaner racquets are available for all classes.

This fall, they are trying some new variations, including Cardio Tennis For Kids and Quick Start plus Cardio Tennis.

For adults,  there is an Advanced Intermediate ‘Raw Power’ class offered, where you’ll work with a BTP coach and trainer to learn how to develop an ‘explosive game off the ground’, and how to seize the offensive day.

There’s also a ‘Total Fitness’ class, where you’ll work with a BTP coach and trainer to develop “your tennis-specific fitness by learning and practicing the key steps to building your foundation for a totally fit and injury free body”.

Finally, there’s an Intermediate Round Robin Mixed Doubles group that meets on Saturdays. That’s where you’ll find us Tennis Marylanders.
