Eighteen year old Annandale Atom Mitchell Frank will face the Washington Kastles Bobby Reynolds, 29, in Thursday’s prime-time US Open Wild Card men’s singles match in College Park, Maryland. It’s a battle against two well-regarded players who have hit a lot of balls in the DC area, but at very different stages of their careers.
UVA-signed Mitchell Frank had a huge following at Grandstand Court during the Legg Mason Tennis Classic First Round Qualifiers two and a half weeks ago. Expect a sea of Blue and Orange on Thursday. We’d love to see some Annandale Red, too, since Frank hasn’t even spent a night on the Lawn yet. Annandale is still his alma mater.
Reynolds has enjoyed raucous support from Kastles faithful at the Wharf this past season, but we suspect Reynolds fans will be badly outnumbered by the Travelin’ Cavs.
