Arthur Ashe Kid's Day made this little girl very happy.

Since we started this site as a way to showcase family-friendly tennis events in the region, we’ve covered the Newport Kid’s Day and Legg Mason Kid’s Day. Unfortunately, our attention was hijacked somewhat by the triumvirate known as the CitiOpen/Legg Mason Main Draw/US Open Wild Cards.

Back to our little point pictured above: the kid’s days in Newport on grass and DC on Har-Tru were spectacular, as both were filled with unique activities and surfaces for the little points.

Now, we’re headed to the Holy Grail of Family Fun:  Arthur Ashe Kid’s Day on Saturday. Imagine our surprise as we just learned that we’ll be there as credentialed media (gulp). Thanks to the USTA for accepting our three-month late request for this one special day. We won’t let you down!

Oh, yes. The Main Event. In addition to the real earthquake which knocked toys off of shelves in Baltimore and DC today, Northern Virginia also spawned a seismic duo of sorts in NYC with Annandale’s Mitchell Frank and Arlington’s Denis Kudla.  They both won in 3 sets after play was briefly halted due to an angry god.
