Without a cloud in the sky, Day 2 of the 2012 Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships went off without a hitch. Winners included top seed Benjamin Becker, Alex Kuznetsov, Tim Smyczek, Izak Van Der Merwe, Danai Udomchoke, Brezac, Mannarino and Sergei Bubka. Bubka’s was particularly close at 7-6(5) and & 7-6(4). Bubka’s coach was literally chain-smoking like an expectant father in a 1950’s cartoon maternity ward. Also, Pierre Ludovic Duclos grasped defeat from the jaws of victory on several occasions in a 7-6, 6-7, 4-6 loss to Van Der Merwe.

No doubt the biggest match of the day was played almost 4,000 miles away, and everyone, from top seeds to the volunteers had eyes glued to Federer’s historic victory over Murray. The photo above is the public view portion of the player’s lounge. Though you can’t see a bunch of famous faces in the photo, they were all there.
I spent time significant time watching the Becker/Wolmarans match, Van Der Merwe/Duclos and Johnson/Brezac matches and will post videos as the bandwidth allows.
