FLUSHING, NY–The 2012 US Open Men’s singles champion is back in his happy place: a grand slam. Andy Murray spent 15 minutes interacting with fans yesterday, and that was BEFORE his practice. One couple in the crowd indicated that they were “Just Murray-ed” and were spending their honeymoon at the US Open hoping for a glimpse of the Muzzer.

Today is a special day not just for the newlyweds but for Murray himself. He sits at 199-54 in grand slam singles action and he’ll look to make that win #200 when he faces Corentin Moutet on Grandstand this afternoon. That mark would make him only the 9th man in history to accomplish such a feat. Murray begins his campaign in his 17th US Open, having missed the tournament only twice since 2005. His history here extends even further as he won the 2004 US Open Boy’s singles title over Juan Del Potro. While he did blow a 2 sets to 1 lead over Tsitsipas in a loss in 2021, he has never lost another first round match in New York (15-1).
Should he win today, he’ll join the ranks of Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, Connors, Agassi, Lendl, Emerson and Sampras. We’re looking forward to saying “Welcome to the 200 Club, Muzzer!”
