WASHINGTON, DC – The Mubadala Citi DC Open, the only combined ATP-WTA 500 level tennis tournament in the world, has announced its preliminary main draw player fields for the 2024 tournament, which features nine of the world’s top 20 players, five Grand Slam champions, two past DC winners and 14 American players. The 55th edition of the tournament will take place July 27 – August 4 in Washington, DC at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park. The Mubadala Citi DC Open is the fifth largest professional tennis event in the United States.

The Mubadala Citi DC Open’s ATP 500 event will feature 48 singles players and 16 doubles teams. The WTA 500 tournament will feature 32 singles competitors and 16 doubles teams. Additional players will join the main draws via wild card entry, to be announced in the coming weeks. 

ATP and WTA entry lists include:

  • Aryna Sabalenka, World No. 3: Two-time Australian Open champion and former World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka will return to DC for the first time since 2017. She has reached the semifinals or better of all four Grand Slams. Her 2024 season includes winning her second Major in Melbourne and reaching the finals in Rome, Madrid and Brisbane, as well as the quarterfinals in Berlin, Paris (Roland Garros) and Stuttgart.
  • Ons Jabeur, World No. 10: Returning to Washington DC for the first time since 2019, Ons Jabeur achieved a career-high ranking of World No. 2 in 2022 and holds five singles titles. The Tunisian is a three-time Grand Slam finalist and has reached five quarterfinals this year, including Roland Garros.
  • Grigor Dimitrov, World No. 10 – Three-time Grand Slam semifinalist Grigor Dimitrov is set to make his eighth appearance in DC, where he was a semifinalist in 2023. Dimitrov has nine ATP titles, securing his latest in Brisbane in January. Also this season, Dimitrov reached the quarterfinals at Roland Garros and the finals in Miami. 
  • Daria Kasatkina, World No. 12: This season, Daria Kasatkina won her fifth title in Eastbourne and reached the finals in Charleston, Abu Dhabi and Adelaide, as well as the quarterfinals in Brisbane. Kasatkina was a semifinalist at the 2022 Roland Garros and reached the quarterfinals at both Wimbledon and Roland Garros in 2018.
  • Madison Keys, World No. 13: American Madison Keys recently captured her eighth career title in Strasbourg. The 2017 US Open finalist has achieved a quarterfinals or better appearance at all four Grand Slams. Keys also qualified for the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai in 2023 and reached the US Open semifinals and quarterfinals in DC last year.
  • Ben Shelton, World No. 14 – 21-year-old American Ben Shelton will return to DC for the second time. He reached the doubles finals in 2023 with American partner Mackenzie McDonald. He is a two-time ATP tour champion and a 2023 US Open semifinalist. In 2024, Shelton had semifinal appearances in Auckland and Dallas and secured his second career title in Houston. 
  • Liudmila Samsonova, World No. 15: Liudmila Samsonova will return to DC for the third year in a row, where she won the event in 2022 and reached the semifinals in 2023. She has captured one title this year in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and appeared in the Abu Dhabi and Strasbourg semifinals. 
  • Victoria Azarenka, World No. 16: Two-time Australian Open champion and former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka’s 2024 season includes semifinals berths in Brisbane, Miami and Berlin, and quarterfinals appearances in Doha, Charleston and Rome. The 2024 Mubadala Citi DC Open marks her third appearance in Washington, where her best result was a quarterfinal finish in 2022.
  • Anna Kalinskaya, World No. 18: In 2024, Anna Kalinskaya reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and was a finalist in both Berlin and Dubai. In 2023, she made three quarterfinal runs in Austin, Charleston and Osaka. She is a 2019 DC semifinalist and 2022 DC quarterfinalist. 
  • Sebastian Korda, World No. 21 – 23-year-old American and 2023 Australian Open quarterfinalist Sebastian Korda will compete in DC for a fourth time. His father Petr Korda won the DC tournament in 1992. Korda’s 2024 season includes a new career-high ranking of World No. 20 in June after reaching the finals in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and the semifinals in London (Queen’s Club).
  • Karen Khachanov, World No. 22 – Karen Khachanov, a two-time Grand Slam semifinalist and former World No. 8, will return to DC to compete for a fourth time. He is a six-time ATP champion. He is a 2024 Doha finalist, Marseille semifinalist and Monte-Carlo quarterfinalist. 
  • Adrian Mannarino, World No. 24 – Mannarino is a five-time ATP champion, winning three of those titles just last year in Astana, Newport and Sofia. In 2024, he reached the semifinals of the United Cup and Dallas and reached a career-high ranking of World No. 17 in January. 
  • Frances Tiafoe, World No. 29 – Maryland native and former World. No 10, Frances Tiafoe is returning to play his home tournament for the eighth time, reaching the quarterfinals in DC the past two years. Tiafoe is a three-time ATP tour champion and a 2022 US Open semifinalist. This year on tour, Tiafoe has had three quarterfinal appearances, a semifinals berth, and a run to the finals in Houston.
  • Elise Mertens, World No. 33: Elise Mertens holds eight singles WTA titles and was an Australian Open semifinalist in 2018. She is a two-time US Open quarterfinalist and a 2024 Australian Open doubles champion. This year, she won doubles titles at Indian Wells and Birmingham and reached the singles final in Hobart.
  • Sofia Kenin, World No. 49 – 2020 Australian Open Champion and former World No. 4 Sofia Kenin will compete in her third Mubadala Citi DC Open this year. Kenin, a five-time WTA singles champion, has won two doubles titles in Abu Dhabi and Miami this season.
  • Sloane Stephens, World No. 50 – 2015 Mubadala Citi DC Open Champion Sloane Stephens will return to Washington for a chance to reclaim the title. Stephens is the 2017 US Open Champion and an eight-time WTA titlist, most recently winning in Rouen and capturing her first career doubles title in Charleston.
  • Emma Raducanu, Wild Card – 2021 US Open Champion and former top ten player Emma Raducanu has returned to the tour following injuries and will compete in DC for a second time in 2024. This year, she reached the semifinals in Nottingham and the quarterfinals in Stuttgart and Eastbourne.
  • Paula Badosa, Wild Card – Former World No. 2 and three-time WTA champion Paula Badosa is making her Mubadala Citi DC Open debut. Badosa is finding her form again this year after an injury ended her 2023 season. Most recently, she had an impressive third round finish at Roland Garros and fourth round finish at Wimbledon, as well as a quarterfinal run in Bad Homburg.
  • Denis Shapovalov, Wild Card – Former World No. 10 Denis Shapovalov was a 2020 US Open and 2022 Australian Open quarterfinalist. Additionally, he reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in 2021. This will be his fourth time competing in Washington.
