Sometimes, you just can’t win. But if you’re U.S. Congresswoman Nancy Mace, you don’t know the difference between good and bad press, or maybe even right or wrong. The outspoken and often bizzare Mace made the seemingly-safe bet of posting up in her district at Opening Day of the Charleston Open on Daniel Island.

She was met with something short of Southern Hospitality on Facebook, where her aide posted the above photo. One commenter noted, “another photo op and not a town hall meeting with your constituents”. A user asked her, “Do you ever work?” while another replied “Can’t miss events like this. But when they ask for town halls they act like it’s lava and don’t wana touch it.”

The Congresswoman’s Facebook page went auto-reply for those comments, repeating again and again the following message: “Congresswoman Mace held over a dozen town halls last year, and will do the same this year, but she will not be bullied by far-left paid agitators threatening her, her employees, and her family.”

While the Low Country has no lock on goofy politicians, it’s important to note that the first district seat now held by Mace was formerly the fiefdom of Mark “Hiking the Appalachian Trail” Sanford, whose whoppers earned him first-ballot entry into the International Marital Infidelity Hall of Fame.
