This afternoon, Pennsylvania’s Alexandra Mueller will take the court at the US Open against Beatriz Garcia Vidagany of Spain on Court 11. Mueller won nine straight matches to get here, so she’s ready to make the most of it.
I sat down with her on Monday following her clinching of the USO qualifying wild card in New Haven. She’s excited about a chance to make a run at Flushing Meadows. She’s also looking to a break after the Open to spend more time at home with her family and her three dogs. Not surprisingly, she’s not in favor of tinkering with the college scoring system as the NCAA is considering. Wish her luck. She’s on third on Court 11, after the Sam Crawford and Dan Kosakowski matches.
