2012 ITF Junior World Champion Taylor Townsend is easily the most accomplished junior in American tennis. In addition to winning the 2012 Australian Open Junior Singles championship, she nearly won a true Golden Slam in doubles by taking Wimbledon, the US Open and Australian junior titles last year.

She’ll take her act to Washington this next month, as tournament organizers announced in a conference call today that the 17-year-old was granted a wild card into the main draw of the Citi Open. The Citi Open is an ATP 500 and  WTA International tournament from July 27-August 4 in the Nation’s Capital.
