Milos Raonic was ready to play some tennis after four days in Washington. His first opponent was the surging Jack Sock, himself a North American star by virtue of his cross-border alliance with Vasek Pospisil in a Wimbledon doubles title. The two countries set aside their love for PopSock long enough for Raonic to advance to the 3rd round with a 7-6 (3), 7-6(3) win over the young Nebraskan.

They each gave up one break, so it’s glaringly obvious that Raonic’s 16 service missiles did the trick tonight. Sock also relied on the big serve, nabbing 8 aces in the match and 6 alone in the second set.

The second-seeded Raonic will go up against Old Rusty, Lleyton Hewitt, tomorrow night for the right to play in the Washington quarterfinals.
