Iga Swiatek Looks Like Her “Old” Self Again as She Cruises Past Competition in Toronto
[TORONTO, ON] August 13, 2026 – Iga Swiatek of Poland won the National Bank Open presented by Rogers (NBO) singles title by defeating Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan 6-2, 6-3 on Thursday night, while Katerina Siniakova of Czechia and partner Shuai Zhang of China won the doubles title overcoming Sara Errani of Italy and American Nicole Melichar-Martinez 6-3, 6-4 in the final.
The NBO final featured a 13th meeting between No. 2 seed Rybakina and No. 7 seed Swiatek, with their head-to-head record tied at six wins apiece entering the match. It was their second meeting in a final, following Swiatek’s victory over Rybakina at the 2024 Qatar Open – also a WTA 1000 event. Tonight’s matchup marked the first NBO final between two Top 10 players since 2018, when world No. 1 Simona Halep defeated world No. 3 Sloane Stephens.
